The Bauer Nexus N2900 offers elite performance and playability in a performance-level stick that costs about half the price of most top-end sticks. A whole host of new technologies makes the N2900 a contender for the best performing stick at an affordable price point.
The N2900 feels very comfortable in the hands thanks to slightly rounded corners and concave sidewalls. The stick benefits from Bauer’s R2 resin system that offers good durability but doesn’t sacrifice feel. The stick also enjoys a big upgrade with Bauer’s 3K carbon fiber twill material. Compared with the Unidirectional carbon fiber used in the N2700, the N2900 is about 20 percent stronger without sacrificing responsiveness and feel.
The construction process has also been upgraded with a high-performance mold as compared with the fused two-piece technologies used in previous Bauer sticks. The shaft wall thickness is much more consistent throughout for a more efficient and effective transfer of energy for a true one-piece feel as players take their shots.
The N2900 uses Bauer’s Sweet Spot Technology that drives their versatile mid-kick, ideal for players looking for a powerful, effortless release. The Nexus is Bauer’s jack-of-all-trades hockey stick in that it falls between the Supreme line’s high kick, ideal for power shooters, and the Vapor line’s low kick, great for quick release shooters. The versatile Nexus line offers players the best of both worlds. The N2900 also makes use of a secondary taper that’s engineered at the top and bottom of the shaft, increasing puck control and shot accuracy due to the stick’s improved strength and torsional resistance.
The N2900 also offers players the Bauer Griptac stick coating that will lock in a player’s hands and help give them the ultimate control.
The blade on the N2900 uses Bauer’s new Max Balance Technology, an upgrade over previous generations’ construction, providing a higher balance point and quicker shot release. The blade is also lighter and more durable thanks to Bauer’s AeroFoam I Core with BimaX 3K Carbon Fiber Wrap, a dual-material internal foam. The blade’s edges are now reinforced while the strategic layering of the fiber reduces the stick’s bottom-end weight without sacrificing durability or strength. When you play, you’ll notice a higher balance point, so the stick will feel lighter in the hands and you’ll enjoy a shot release that’s up to seven percent faster compared to the release in the old Nexus 2 stick. The BimaX 3K carbon fiber weave is very strong and durable. When combined with the AeroFoam I Core, the BimaX 3K results in a puck-feel on the blade that players will love.
The senior 87 flex weighs 438 grams, a 20-gram weight reduction from the previous generation.
Overall, Bauer’s Nexus N2900 hockey stick offers tremendous versatility and a great, balanced feel thanks to the Sweet Spot Technology and the new Max Balance blade. The Nexus N2900 feels like a top-line stick but costs only about half the price. Performance-level skaters are sure to like what they feel when they pick one up.
